"Significantly Different"

"Significantly different" are the words being used to describe the car Formula 1 vets Williams hope will lead it back up the grid in 2018.

But even the bloke responsible admits you'd be hard pressed to see the changes.

"The car has many new features, most of which are not all that obvious, said Williams' Paddy Lowe.

"But externally the team has pursued a very different aerodynamic concept which has allowed us some significant progress in aerodynamic performance."

There's that word again - significant.

The new FW41 will again be powered by a Mercedes, which is pretty much the same engine run by Lewis Hamilton's Championship winning factory car.

But last year, the Williams cars were no match for the Mercs, finishing 5th in the Constructors' Championship and well behind 4th-placed Force India.

Paddy says performance is only the reason they've done things differently, making a "number of radical changes to the car's packaging to incorporate further developments" from Mercedes and other parts suppliers.

Lance Stroll will drive steer one of the FW41's and at 19, is still the youngest driver on the grid.

He'll be joined by Sergey Sirotkin who replaces the retired Felipe Massa with Robert Kubica hired as Williams' reserve and development driver.

Rookie Sirotkin admits he should've brought his swag.

"I've spent a lot of time at the factory, I'm almost living there at the moment," said the Russian.

"It's busy times, but I am really enjoying it. I'm getting ready for the season in the best possible way."
