There are reports that Maroons skipper Cameron Smith will break camp tonight to appear on the Channel Nine Footy Show.

It's understood he'll receive an apology for the way he was portrayed in a Channel Nine story on Alex McKinnon almost a year ago.

Its believed Footy Show host Paul Vautin will read out the apology.

It’s been 12 months since Triple M caught the 60 Minutes program out with unedited vision and audio, showing the real conversation Cameron Smith had with the referee after that Alex McKinnon tackle. Watch the video below.

Channel Nine's 60 Minutes edited out this quote when they showed Alex McKinnon the vision - "It's unfortunate and I don't want see that happen anytime in our game."

In the interview Alex is also led to believe Cameron has been arguing with the ref throughout the eight minutes he's been on the field.

However, as you can see in the video below, Cameron Smith does not talk to the referee until Alex McKinnon has left the field.

Unedited Vision Of Cameron Smith's Conversation With Ref

Cameron Smith declined an offer by the Nine Network to respond to McKinnon's scathing criticism of the Queensland and Test skipper following a tackle that left him in a wheelchair with a severe spinal injury.

In the story the ex-Newcastle forward told the channel's 60 Minutes program he was upset over on-field comments Smith made to referees following the tackle in March last year that left him in a wheelchair with a severe spinal injury.

It's understood Smith was upset he was not given the opportunity to defend himself on the initial program.

McKinnon and Smith have since spoken.
