A bit of James Maloney brilliance has put NSW on the board, taking the score to 6 - 10 after roughly half an hour of play.

A fiery pass to Josh Addo-Carr broke the NSW drought in the first half.

"He makes up for missing that tackle on Gagai," Triple M's Dan Ginnane said.

"We're used to sometimes seeing conservative Origin games - but tonight we're getting anything but."

"James Maloney carries no scars," Triple M's Ryan Girdler said.

"It was an all-or-nothing play, and this time he got the result."

"What a finisher - there was nothing doing there!" Triple M's Wendell Sailor said.
