Speaking on Channel Nine, Andrew Johns has officially ruled the prospect of taking over from Laurie Daley as head coach of the Blues.

“No, not as the head coach. Definitely not," Joey said.

“I see what it does - especially this series and the pressure Laurie Daley and Kevin Walters were under - and I don’t need that in my life.

"I think out of respect for Laurie, we're all speculating and I think it's up to Laurie and whether he continues or not. If Laurie was not to continue, I think Brad Fittler has served his apprenticeship in City Country and he's had great success with the City team. I think he'd be ready to step in."

On the matter of whether he'd take on a smaller role, Joey was more enthusiastic about the idea.

“I haven't really given it much thought. I love the state the much and I love the jersey that I’d give it a strong consideration,” Johns said.
