Ben Barba announced his shock exit from the NRL earlier this month, but apparently he's up for a bit of time as a spectator in Toulon, with assistant Toulon coach Stephen Meehan hinting that Barba may not surface until the 2017-2018 season.
The Toulon side is already packed with backline talent, and the chance of Barba getting regular game time even when the new season starts in August seems to be a bit slim.
"For the first six months, for him it would just be a question of getting your head down and working on everything as hard as you can, get to know everything, study the game," Meehan told smh.com.au.
"Honestly, if all these guys are available, I can't see him getting a lot of game time this year."
Barba's exit came after the NRL delayed registering his Cronulla contract following the enforcement of a 12-game ban for a second illicit drugs test returning positive.
