Ben Hunt has been named on the bench for the Broncos following his sensational axing to reserve grade by coach Wayne Bennett.

"Being dropped to reserve grade and having to go back and play for Ipswich was a massive shock," Hunt said, reports the latest Big League.

"I certainly didn’t expect to find myself in reserve grade this year and I didn’t think my form warranted being dropped.

"I was stunned when I found out. I was only two games back from a pretty bad hamstring tear and I knew I didn’t play well the first game against the Warriors, but I thought in the Roosters game I did some good things and I started to make strides back to where I wanted to be. I didn’t see it coming."

Following injuries to Anthony Milford and Darius Boyd, Hunt has gotten the call-up with Benji Marshall and Kodi Nikorima in the halves.
