Former Bronco and Maroon Ben Ikin, has told Triple M that the current drama surrounding the Brisbane Broncos could be a blessing in disguise as they fight to remain in the top eight.

The embattled Brisbane team are never far from the headlines and reports of a falling out between coach Wayne Bennett and CEO Paul White this week reached fever pitch.

Unbelievably, the straw that broke the camel's back seems to have been a BBQ - or, rather, players leaving a BBQ at White's house to instead head to Bennett's.

But Ikin, who is married to Bennett's daughter, reckons this may be exactly what Bennett needs; hear his explanation on The Big Breakfast  below.

Speaking to Marto, Robin and The Moonman, Ikin couldn't miss an opportunity to take a dig at his father-in-law, ribbing him over his admission that he doesn't actually own a barbeque.

He also gave his tip on who would win the 2018 NRL Premiership - while ridiculing himself for his pre-season predictions - saying that it's the most even competition he's seen in years.

The Broncos take on South Sydney tonight at Suncorp Stadium.
