Billy Slater has successfully beat his Grade One shoulder charge at the NRL Judiciary and is free to play in Sunday's Grand Final.

Slater faced a three-man panel on Tuesday night, who overturned the Match-Review's Committee's decision to suspend Slater for one game.

"I would like to thank the judiciary for a fair hearing," Slater told the awaiting media.

"It was Important that I got my point across."

"Now I need to start focusing on the Grand Final."

Unprecedented scenes swept across NRL HQ with the panel taking 54-minutes to decide Slater's fate.

In contrast, Latrell Mitchell's crusher tackle two weeks ago took only 12-minutes for a decision to be finalised.

Slater himself told the panel of Mal Cochrane, Bob Lindner and Sean Garlick, he was attempting to wrap his arms around Feki during contact.

“The whole time my intention was to make a tackle. It happens earlier than I expected to do but I’m still attempting to wrap my right arm. Even with my left arm is trying to wrap underneath," Slater said during the hearing.

“I’ve got a duty to make a tackle, the duty of care is to myself and player Feki.

"To ensure I don’t make a high tackle is a duty to Feki.

"I feel the contact that was made was unavoidable once he veered back in.

"I think the decisions I made ensured the safest possible contact was made.”

In the end it was unanimous with Slater free to play in his last-ever game of rugby league in this Sunday's decider.
