It's been reported that the Storm are in no rush to bring star fullback Billy Slater into their side for Round 22, with the medical team set on ensuring he's back to full health before he takes to the field.

Slater copped a knock from Sia Soliola in Round 20, which saw Soliola given a five-match ban.

Slater's concussion saw him sit out Round 21, and given the current concern for players' well-being regarding head injuries, the club officials have insisted that he won't be rushed back into the side.

"The doctors will follow the normal protocols that are set out by the NRL and in a case like this, where the player was knocked unconscious, you err on the side of caution ever more so, because of the severity of the concussion," Storm Football Director Frank Ponissi said, reports ESPN

"We're going to be absolutely ultra conservative. If there's no risk or concern whatsoever, he'll play, but if there is any slight doubt we'll hold him off for another week.

"We won't be rushing Billy back. He won't play unless he's 100 percent and that will come down to the medical staff, and the player as well. If both the medical staff and the player have no issues, he'll play."
