Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur has opened up about Jarryd Hayne and the now infamous pre-season time trial.

It was widely reported Hayne finished dead last, even behind Arthur's 12 year-old son.

Although the despite the claims, Arthur insists Hayne's fitness levels are the best he's ever seen.

"While it’s been reported that his fitness levels aren’t great, they’re better than I’ve seen from him but he’s not the sort of person that’s going to win a 5km sand beach trial or a 2km time sprint," Arthur said on The Rush Hour with MG.

"But the stuff where we’ve got the football in hand and the more powerful explosive type training he’s been in our best 5 every time."

In an all access and honest interview, Arthur spoke on The Rush Hour with MG about how the Eels are looking ahead of the 2018 season, learning from Craig Bellamy, giving the 'Wild Panther' Mark Geyer his very first speaking gig and as always Arthur goes for Three with MG!
