Former Parramatta and Wests Tigers fullback Brett Hodgson will reportedly return to the NRL, joining the Wests Tigers as assistant coach.

“Brett Hodgson - a legend at the Wests Tigers - is set to return to the club next season as Ivan Cleary’s right hand man,” said Channel Nine’s The Mole, on wwos.nine.com.au

The 39-year-old finished his NRL career in the UK Super League and then went on to become an assistant coach of Widnes Vikings and head coach of the Vikings Academy team.

Hodgson was a pretty handy player in his day and won a grand final with Wests Tigers in 2005. In the same year, he won the Dally M Fullback of the Year, his 308 points in 2005 "remain the most ever scored by a fullback in a single season."

He finished off his NRL career as Wests Tigers club captain, before carving out a rugby league career in the UK Super League.
