There is talk that the Broncos have emerged as a surprise contender for Jack Bird, with the club joining the Knights and the Sharks in the race to land the playmaker.
It's been reported by Triple M and the Australian's Brent Read that the Broncos originally planned to wait a year after Ben Hunt departs to make a play for one of the Gold Coast's halves - Ash Taylor or Kane Elgey.
Instead, the other option has emerged of partnering Bird with Anthony Milford in 2018.
Meanwhile, the Sharks have reportedly reminded Bird that he's emerged as a rep player and won a title with the club - something which would fall away at the Knights.
Newcastle's play for Bird is a big bucks deal, with the side eager to rebuild around him.
It's likely that Bird will make a decision next week.
