Speaking on Triple M Sunday NRL, Bulldogs CEO Raelene Castle lamented the loss of Josh Reynolds to the Tigers next season, saying that the NRL needs to do more to keep loyal players at one club. Listen to the full interview below.

"He's one of those special players that really gets to you because he is the essence of the Bulldogs," Castle said.

"The NBA and the way they structure their system means the most you can earn as a player is if you stay with your club.

"And I think that's something the NRL should really look at.

"We do have the veteran player allowance which allows clubs with players who have been there for more than six years to have a bit of extra money, but I wonder if we need to think about the opportunities to make sure we keep people like Josh Reynolds at clubs, who have played there for such a long time.

"Because ultimately it was the cap that meant we couldn't offer what the Tigers offered. We are hugely sad to see him go, but we have such enormous respect for him and know that he's generated a financial contract that will allow him to set himself up and all we can do is congratulate him."
