He’s not a part of the NRL, but Chris Sandow has returned to rugby league.

The former Parramatta and Souths halfback will make a return to the footy field for his rural home-town team, Cherbourg Hornets at the NRL All Stars in Newcastle on February 10, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Coach Rick Bird is confident Chris sand will play.

“He has been home in Cherbourg training with the boys and helping out running them through a few plays,” Bird said.

“Obviously we want to give some of the boys who actually played in the Queensland Murray Carnival an opportunity first, but a few of them can’t get away because of work commitments.

“We’ve also got three guys battling injury, so it would be good to have Chris out there.”

Earlier, the former Parramatta and Souths star was charged after video emerged of a him involved in a wild street brawl on New Years Day.

The video, which was taken in Sandow's hometown of Cherbourg, 250km northwest of Brisbane, shows him barefoot while swinging wild haymakers and headbutts at an unknown shirtless opponent, while children watch on. Watch the video below.

Sandow was only recently involved in a boxing match (an official one) with other former NRL bad boy Todd Carney.

He had hoped to make a return to the NRL after walking out on his contract with English Super League club Warrington.
