The Gold Coast club have released Hurrell a year early from his contract to take up a lucrative deal with Leeds Rhinos.

Coach Garth Brennan paid tribute to the departing centre.

"I've always said how much of a fan I am of Konrad and that hasn't changed," Brennan said on the club's website.

"Konrad is a great person and someone I admire because of everything he does both here and for his family back in Tonga.

"By his own admission he had his ups and downs throughout season 2018 but his dedication and application to the club on and off the field can never be questioned.

"The club is not in a position to offer him anything beyond next season and the three-year offer for him at Leeds is something that I understand is a hard one to knock back.

"I know everyone at the club will miss his smile and laughter around the place and I know I speak on behalf of all us in wishing him all the best for the future."

Hurrell joined the Titans mid-way through 2016 from the New Zealand Warriors.
