Cooper Cronk says he's still undecided on his NRL playing future and won't make an announcement until Melbourne's finals campaign is done.

The Test halfback is leaving the Storm at season's end to move to Sydney but is still contemplating whether to retire or play on with another NRL club.

Cronk, 33, says during the finals isn't the right time for an announcement and he's still unsure of what the future holds.

"I dare say this time of year is not the right time for an announcement so I really have put it on the backburner," Cronk said on Tuesday.

"I will worry about that between however long we go for and when the World Cup starts; it won't be happening until we're all finished."

While many believe he will call it quits and move into a media role, Cronk's former Melbourne teammate Brett Finch and fellow Queensland representative Justin Hodges this week made the call that he would play on next year.

Cronk laughed off their declaration.

"They must have some inside information because I don't know the answer to that question, they might have crystal ball," he said.

While the countdown of remaining Melbourne games is on, Cronk says he's not letting himself think about it.

"My game is all about consistency and doing the right things for this team and if I start thinking this is my last game of the finals, emotionally you start riding that rollercoaster.

"My job on the field is not to be emotional, it's to be consistent keep everything going the same direction."
