Cooper Cronk has revealed he gave Mitchell Pearce a phone call, saying he'd prefer if the pair could stay united at the Roosters next season.

Cronk has officially joined the Roosters but his signing leaves a cloud over the future of Pearce, with reports he's angry and will need plenty of convincing to stay at the club.

The former Storm star told NRL 360 he spoke to Pearce, hopeful the two could link up.

"I had a chat to Mitchell earlier today," he said.

"I won't go into specifics or anything like that, but it wasn't me about convincing or preaching or anything like that.

"Mitchell's been front and centre of the Roosters for a long period of time. As I said, he's got an arsenal of weapons to play in the halves that I think he can dominate.

"There's a few things that I think I could help him with, and there's a lot of things that he can help me with."

Cronk believes the team can thrive as long as everyone buys in.

"It's going to be something that we're going to work together (with)," he said.

"That's my preferred option that everyone stays and buys into the Roosters' culture, which I'm going to have to dive straight into and understand that as quickly as I possibly can.

"From my point of view, as long as every player's got the ability to work hard, be selfless, and when it comes down to the crunch put the team first, then I'm sure that no matter what system or players Trent (Robinson) chooses...I'm sure the best team will be out on the paddock."
