In-form Parramatta playmaker Corey Norman has been ruled out of the Eels NRL clash against the Titans on Saturday with a hamstring injury.

He will be replaced by NRL veteran Jeff Robson.

However, it's understood Norman will be right for the Round Four clash against NRL champs Cronulla.

In other team news, Melbourne veteran Billy Slater has been named to make his long-awaited return to the NRL for Thursday's clash against Brisbane, after his recovery from shoulder surgery.

Slater and teammate Jesse Bromwich were a number of big names to be selected in 21-man squads on Tuesday, including Canberra pair Jarrod Croker and Dave Taylor, and Cronulla star Valentine Holmes.

Wests Tigers Jamal Idris has been dropped, while rookie sensation Kalyn Ponga returns to the top grade for the Cowboys and will play fullback.

Controversial Warriors recruit Kieran Foran has been officially ruled out of the NRL side's clash with the Bulldogs on Friday with injury.

The troubled 26-year-old playmaker received clearance to return to the NRL last Saturday, and is eligible to play for his new side in their Dunedin match.
