North Queensland Cowboys coach Paul Green has slammed the dog shot tackle after Johnathan Thurston was on the end of two horrible tackles in consecutive weeks.

The Cowboys captain was smashed late by Melbourne's Sam Kasiano in round 12, which was followed by Manly's Jack Gosiewski who also hit Thurston late in round 13.

Triple M's Paul Kent slammed the NRL, calling it "unsatisfactory" that both Kasiano and Gosiewski were ONLY handed a grade one charge.

This was echoed by Cowboys coach Green, who called for the tackling "technique" to be stamped out of the game or for the NRL deliver harsher punishments.
