England's series clinching victory over New Zealand has been overshadowed by an ugly incident involving George Burgess and Kiwi captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

Late in the second-half, Burgess appears to grab at the eye of Kiwi DWZ, trying to complete the tackle.

With Watene-Zelezniak staying down as a result, it allowed for a replay to be shown which showed the ugly incident.

Speaking after New Zealand's 20-14 loss, the Kiwi captain played down the incident and believed it wasn't an intentional act.

“That’s international football... I’m a tough boy, I’m an adult, I’m a man so I can take those kinds of things but what I can’t take is a loss," Watene-Zelezniak said during his post match-interview.

"I have no idea, I’d have to watch the video back. He’s a big boy and he’s got some big fingers too.

"I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose.

"Him and his brothers are good guys and they’ve done really good things for the game.

"I don’t think that’s in their kit bag but it is what it is, you just have to deal with it."

While no action was taken by the on-field referees, G.Burgess is sure to come under-fire from the match-review committee.
