Disgraced former Wests Tigers NRL player Tim Simona has been given an 18-month good behaviour bond for his "cruel hoax upon members of the community".

The 25-year-old had pleaded guilty to dishonestly obtaining property by deception after pocketing money from the sale of signed club jerseys that were auctioned for the Camp Quality children's charity.

At the Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, the former player was convicted of the fraud charge and handed a good behaviour bond.
