NSW's Origin series victory has been overshadowed by the controversial awarding of the Wally Lewis Medal to Billy Slater.

On Triple M's The Rush Hour with MG, Mark Geyer believes the awarding process needs to be changed. 

MG called for the losing side to not even factor into recognition when the judges are selecting a player of the series. 

However, former Queensland Origin captain Gorden Tallis has come out swinging in defence of Billy Slater telling Triple M Brisbane's Dead Set Legends the system isn't flawed affirming Slater was the best player in Game II and III.
