Here's A Great Yarn To Celebrate John Sutton's 300th Club Game

To celebrate Souths stalwart John Sutton's 300th club game, Triple M and the Australian's Brent Read shared a great yarn with the Triple M call team ahead of the game between Souths and the Titans. Listen to the audio below.

"He's been such a great servant to that football club and bridges the old and the new for South Sydney," Ready said.

"He became the guy that this club is built around.

"There was a long time when John Sutton was all they had.

"I have a funny story about John Sutton.

"Back in '05 he was selected as a part of the Prime Minister's XIII team and he was a late edition to the team.

"I was working at AAP at the time and I rang him and I hear these poker machines going off and I said 'Hey John, Congrats, you're in the PM's XIII team mate', and he said 'when's the game on?'

"And I said 'It's on in a couple of weeks', and he said 'Oh, I can't play - I'm going on holidays!'

"So I rang up the South Sydney media bloke and said 'mate, you need to have a word with John Sutton - he's been picked in a rep team and he's just told me he's going on holidays'.

"They said for me to ring him back in five minutes, so I did and he said 'Oh yeah, I'm really proud!'"
