This is a wonderful piece of footy news.
The Illawarra Steelers are to making a stunning return to the rugby league fields, reports Rugby League Week.
In a win for diehard fans, especially those in Wollongong, it’s understood NSW Cup premiers, Illawarra Cutters - who are the feeder club for the Dragons - will be renamed the Illawarra Steelers this season, playing in the club's old colours.
The much-loved Steelers were lost to rugby league in 1999, after they merged with the St George to become the St George Illawarra Dragons.
