It was 1993 and Mark 'MG' Geyer had just parted ways with his beloved Penrith Panthers in controversial circumstances.

Unsure of his future, Geyer received a lifeline with the Balmain Tigers joining legendary League and Union coach Alan Jones at Leichhardt.

It was supposed to be the fresh start MG needed, but according to the man himself it was far from it.

Listen in to MG's honest and open yarn here:

"It was shit to be honest, I didn't like it one bit," Geyer said on the 'Ask MG Anything' Podcast.

"I didn't like travelling on the M4, which at the time only had two lanes all the way to Leichhardt Oval in peak hour. Then driving home in peak hour.

"Not playing for the team I wanted to play for, because of different circumstances.

"Take all that aside from it, the people involved with the Tigers at the time I loved.

"Alan Jones was the only coach in Sydney who would throw me a lifeline after I left Penrith in controversial circumstances.

"And the playing group at the Tigers at the time were bloody great."

The Rush Hour with MG starts this Monday 6pm on 104.9 (SYD), 104.5 (BRIS) or via the Triple M App.
