Jack Bird is expected to be sidelined for one-to-two weeks after picking up a shoulder injury in the Sharks' clash with the Raiders on Friday night.
Bird was assessed by medical staff after the game and it was confirmed that the injury was not as bad as first feared.
He will consult a specialist on Wednesday for more information about the extent of the injury and predicted recovery time.
Options for his replacement could see Kurt Capewell or Gerard Beale to fill the right centre position.
It's a good outcome for the Sharks, as there was original concern that the injury would rule Bird out for a lengthy period.
Bird should rejoin the side with a few weeks remaining of the regular season ahead of the Sharks' charge for their title defence.
