Jack Cogger will be saying goodbye to Newcastle at the end of this season, with his manager confirming that the half has signed a two-year deal with the Bulldogs.

Michael Newton told FoxSports.com.au that the 20-year-old will partner Kieran Foran from 2019, although he will be requesting an immediate release.

"I can confirm that Jack Cogger has signed with the Bulldogs for 2019 and 2020," Newton said. "Despite interest from two other clubs as well as Newcastle's interest to retain Jack, we based the decision on the best available opportunity for Jack to establish himself as a first-grade halfback.

"The Bulldogs are a powerhouse club who demand success. A big factor in the decision was the existing relationship between Dean Pay and Jack who he has coached at junior rep level.

"We will also be submitting a formal request for an immediate release.

"The Knights and Jack have a great relationship and both parties have done the right thing up to this point."

While Cogger's new role won't be a starting one, it's undoubtedly a decent opportunity for the young player in the wake of Mitchell Pearce's arrival to the Knights.
