Maloney told the club's website he's excited to begin his time with the club and reunite with his former ballboy Nathan Cleary.

"Panthers has the roster and the resources to achieve success over the coming years and I’m really excited to now be part of that," Maloney said.

"The squad has a strong forward pack for me to play behind, plus some young and talented players coming through in the outside backs.

"I've actually known Nathan for a long time because he was my ballboy at the Warriors.

"I'm looking forward to playing alongside him and hopefully helping him take his game to the next level."

The deal almost didn't come to fruition after a botched third-party deal, due to comments Maloney made in the media.

However, the Panthers subsequently released prop Leilani Latu to make room for Maloney's imminent arrival.

Maloney's move to Penrith was part of a $6 million swap deal with Matt Moylan.
