Former Knights player James McManus is the first sportsperson to launch legal action against a club for concussion.

And according to Triple M and the Australians' Brent Read, the lawyers acting for McManus are seeking to bolster the landmark case with evidence from other players at the club.

"James McManus' legal team is trying to get access to the medical records of other Newcastle players," Ready said.

"The two players they're trying to get the medical records for are Robbie Rochow and Richie Fa'aoso.

"I gather they're trying to show some sort of pattern there as a part of their case to try to win that for James McManus.

"The issue there is concussion. Richie Fa'aoso came out the other day and said that he's had in retirement. He had some concussion issues while he was playing that were pretty well documented at the time. And Robbie Rochow had some pretty serious concussions in his time as well.

"At the moment, the judge has reserved a decision on whether they'll get access to the records, but it could open up the floodgates for people to access medical records as a part of that sort of case."
