The Rugby League International Federation have announced the shortlist for the Men's Golden Boot award. 

Sydney Roosters' fullback James Tedesco joins New Zealand Captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak plus England duo Elliott Whitehead and Tommy Makinson in the race to be named the best player in the world. 

A win for Tedesco would cap of an incredible year which has already included a NRL Premiership, State of Origin series win, Kangaroos debut plus Player of the Year awards for NSW and the Sydney Roosters. 

Meanwhile 23-year-old Watene-Zelezniak, capped off a fantastic year for the Panthers by being named as New Zealand captain for their end of season Test matches against England and Australia. 

Raiders enforcer Elliot Whitehead continued his strong form for both club and country in 2018 while Makinson scored a bucketload of tries for St. Helens and England including a hat-trick in the second Test against NZ. 

The shortlist was whittled down from 10 which included Boyd Cordner, Valentine Holmes, Shaun Johnson, John Bateman, Jason Taumalolo and Sio Siua Taukeiaho.

For the first-time ever a Women's Golden Boot winner will be crowned, with five players shortlisted; Ali Brigginshaw (Australia), Brittany Breayley (Australia), Isabelle Kelly (Australia), Georgia Roche (England), Honey Hireme (New Zealand). 

The winners will be announced at the annual Hall of Fame & RLIF Golden Boot Dinner in Leeds on Wednesday night (Thursday morning Australian time).
