Former NSW representative Jamie Soward joined Triple M's Sunday NRL this afternoon and has named who he would choose to replace Laurie Daley.

Soward said that despite his mediocre coaching record, Brad Fittler should take charge of the Blues.

Fittler only produced a 43% winning record in his three seasons in charge of the Roosters between 2007-2009, but Soward believes he has what it takes to instil pride into the Blue jumper.

“Well I think a lot of the players in the NSW system would have seen 'Freddy' play, and towards the back end of his career they would have watched him play at the highest level and come back and play in that blue jumper," he said.

“I think 'Freddy' is the man for the job because he can really instill that belief and respect back in the blue jersey.

“That’s what its gonna take."

Laurie Daley was sacked as head coach last week after being in charge of the Blues since 2013.
