Johnathan Thurston has ruled himself out of the Cowboys' round nine clash with Parramatta, despite originally slated to make his comeback from injury this weekend.

It's been reported that JT pulled up fine after training yesterday, but his calf tightened up this afternoon and he's yet to make a full recovery from the injury picked up several weeks ago.

Mal Meninga has said that JT doesn't need to play this week to earn his spot in the Australian side for the ANZAC clash on May 5, however this latest injury setback will undoubtedly cast a shadow over his chances of being match-fit.
