The snubbing of Billy Slater for Origin I caused shockwaves through the NRL.
And now it's been revealed that coach Kevin Walters wasn't behind the decision to choose Darius Boyd over Slater.
"The big thing here was that I think there was actually a split in terms of the voting," Triple M and Fox Sports' James Hooper said. Listen to the full report below.
"I've been told that Kevin Walters wanted Billy Slater for the opening game, but he was out-voted by Gene Miles and Darren Lockyer.
"I think you'll find that Darius Boyd actually approached Wayne Bennett about the fact that he feels as though he would prefer to play fullback.
"That was then relayed to Darren Lockyer and Gene Milles.
"Putting all that aside, having lost that game, Billy has to go back in to the side."
