Souths coach Michael Maguire has revealed that while it's tempting, he won't be moving Greg Inglis into the halves to compensate for the loss of Adam Reynolds.

Instead, Madge insists that there is plenty of depth, with Luke Kelly, John Sutton and Damien Cook all possibilities to slot in.

Reynolds was forced to withdraw from the season opener next weekend due to surgery mid-week after complaining of severe pain.

According to a report by dailytelegraph.com.au, Reynolds drove himself to hospital after training on Wednesday and went in for appendix surgery on Thursday.

He is expected to miss a month of footy, but Madge has said that this is only a minor setback for the squad going into the 2017 season.

“Adam has been in really good form right throughout the pre-season and he is in great shape," Madge told dailytelegraph.com.au.

“We know he is not going to be there for round one. We will just get him back as soon as we can.”
