Current Australian Kanagroos coach Mal Meninga, who is also part of the NRL competition committee has said the game's governing body will not change the interchange rule for at least two years.

Advocates, including Triple M's Mark Geyer and Matty Johns have lobbied for the interchange rule to be reduced, to bring the "little man" back in the game.

MG even believes it should be reduced from eight to four.

However, Meninga joined Triple M Sunday Footy and said nothing will change in the immediate future.

The former Queensland coach also touched on how the NRL are planning to speed-up the game in certain areas.
