Following news that Manu Vatuvei has signed with Salford in the English Super League, the Warriors have planned a farewell for their star in this Friday's clash with the Panthers.

The ground has temporarily been renamed 'Manu Vatuvei Stadium', his teammates will wear commemorative jerseys and inflatable hands will be given out at the gates as a tribute to his signature try celebration (see the video below).

Unfortunately, due to terms in his new deal with Salford, Vatuvei is unable to take part in the game.

However, coach Stephen Kearney has received special clearance from the NRL to name Vatuvei in the #5 spot he's called home for over 225 games for the Warriors.

“While Manu isn’t contractually able to play for us on Friday night, I really wanted to honour him by including him in our team list,” Kearney said.

“He’s one of the club’s greatest players and we are really looking forward to giving him a fitting send-off on Friday night.

“He won’t play but he’ll certainly run down the tunnel before kick off one last time.”
