Triple M Grill Team's Mark Geyer has applauded the NRL and the club's who are taking their home games to regional locations NSW and Queensland in the 2018 season.

'MG' a long-running advocate for NRL clubs taking games, worth Premiership points, to the country believes this is a step in the right direction to help aid 'bush footy.'

"This is great start, about 54% of NRL players come from the country," MG said.

"We’ve got to nurture our biggest asset.

"At the moment, we are seeing teams go by the wayside on a weekly basis in the country.

"We need to help them. So this is a good start."

The NRL announced multiple games will be played in Mudgee, Tamworth, Bathurst and Gosford next year, as well as Gladstone, Toowoomba and Cairns.
