Dragons legend Matt Cooper has issued yet another MMA challenge to Sharks captain Paul Gallen.
Speaking ahead of Gallen's boxing bout, Cooper a longtime fan of MMA, thinks Gal would be the perfect challenger for his first fight in the sport.
“I’ve loved the sport for 15 years,” Cooper told News Corp.
“When I retired I wanted to have a fight but things didn’t pan out that way. I’m still keen to have a fight.
“Gal would be an awesome challenge. He has had some fights in the ring and I know he has done jiu-jitsu and wrestling with football.
“I’d love to have one fight. If it’s one fight, it’s one fight. I’m not going to say I’m going to be the best fighter out there. I’m going to give it a go.”
While Cooper is mates with Gallen and has the upmost respect for the former NSW Blues captain, he insists the rivalry is already there between the two.
“If we do end up fighting, I think it’ll be good entertainment for the fans, especially as he is from Cronulla and I’m from the Dragons," Cooper said.
“We all know that is a massive rivalry in the NRL. I’m sure all the Dragons fans would love to see me beat him and I’m sure all the Sharkies fans would love to see him beat me.
“This is as real as it gets.”
