Triple M Gril Team's Matty Johns has weighed in on the Jack Cogger situation, after the 20-year-old's request to join the Bulldogs from this season was denied by Knights coach Nathan Brown.

"If I’m in Browny’s shoes, I’m telling Cogs, ‘You’re at the Dogs next year, but, brother, I need you here this year’,’" Matty told News Corp.

"Browny is a fair bloke, and just because he’s signed with the Dogs, if he’s playing well enough he won’t have him languishing playing park football.

"It could go two ways. He could end up frustrated, or it could be fantastic, he learns off Mitchell (Pearce), and he might even spend a lot of the year in first grade"

Earlier this week the Bulldogs announced Cogger had signed a two-year deal beginning in 2019, however there were attempts made by the club to lure Cogger to Belmore this year.

It's thought Brown, would rather release Blues Origin winning halfback Trent Hodkinson, if he can secure a deal with another NRL club, than let Cogger go to the Bulldogs ahead of this season.
