Triple M's Mark Geyer has backed Jarryd Hayne to have a huge year for both club and state, despite all the talk surrounding his pre-season training form.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Hayne finished behind Eels coach Brad Arthur during the club's gruelling 5km obstacle course.

However, MG urged the media and fans to stop the scrutiny that's being thrown towards the former Titan and San Fransisco 49er.

"Leave the kid alone, gee this guy cops it from left, right and centre," Geyer said on Triple M's The Rush Hour with MG.

"He's training his ass off and whatever you think about his move from the Titans, he has taken less money and this is a bloke who's a superstar in his own right.

"I know he has unsettled some people, I know a lot of people don't like the way he goes about things but I do, I like the way he plays the sport.

MG also made two bold predictions about Hayne for the upcoming 2018 season.
