Mark Geyer had an incredible 12-year rugby league career.

He represented three clubs, played 180 first grade games and had the honour of representing both his state and country on the biggest stages.

Added to this, he played an instrumental part in helping his beloved Penrith Panthers win their maiden Premiership in 1991.

A real tough and skilled enforcer, MG retired at the conclusion of the 2000 NRL season.

Although according to the man himself, this could of been completely different.

MG was preparing himself for another tough pre-season, for what would of been his 13th NRL season (in 2001), however a meeting the day before the start of pre-season training with then Panthers coach Royce Simmons changed everything.

Listen to MG's incredible yarn about his retirement below.

"I went into his (Royce Simmons) office and he had two TVs set up," he said on The Rush Hour with MG.

"One was of me in my hey day. He had a video of me in 1991 going though players, tackling hard and running fast.

"Then he had a video of me in my last season which was 2000.

"He played the one on the right in 2000 and I said 'Put in on normal motion'.

"I thought I was in slow motion, I said 'Have I lost that much? "

"So I retired then and there."
