Newcastle has suffered its third roster blow this week, with the NRL club granting forward Korbin Sims a release to reportedly join Brisbane.
Sims was contracted for the 2017 season but will leave having played 76 NRL games for the club.
“The Club carefully considered the request and following further discussions with Korbin and his management have decided to grant his release,” CEO Matt Gidley said.
“We thank Korbin for his contribution to the Club and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
The Club has commenced and will continue recruitment discussions following the departure of Sims.
His exit comes in the same week playmaker Jarrod Mullen was provisionally suspended for a positive doping test and forward Pauli Pauli was injured in a car accident.
