Newcastle Knights Signs Two-Time Premiership Winner

The Newcastle Knights have signed two-time Premiership winner Chris Heighington on a one-year deal. 

The veteran back-rower wasn't offered a new contract with former club the Cronulla Sharks and has opted for one final season with the Knights where he believes he can help the plethora of talent coming through the system. 

“I grew up on the Central Coast and always liked the Knights and I remember watching the 1997 and 2001 grand finals, so it just made sense,” Heighington said.

“There are some great young kids coming through the system and hopefully I can help out just as much off the field to see them grow as players.”

Heighington will start with the Club following his Rugby League World Cup commitments.
