The Newcastle Knights will pay tribute to Hannah Rye, the terminally ill teenager who sadly passed away.

The 15-year-old died a month after the Newcastle Knights halfback Trent Hodkinson escorted her to the Year 10 winter formal at Kurri Kurri High School in NSW's Hunter region. Read the full statement below.

The Newcastle Knights are saddened by the loss of Hannah Rye this week.

The Club has offered support to Hannah's family and will continue to do so.

The Club will also continue to respect the family's privacy at this difficult time.

Trent Hodkinson and the team will be wearing black armbands as a mark of respect when the Knights take on the Canberra Raiders this Friday night.
