The NFL has announced the first official "International Combine", launching a series of regional scouting opportunities across Australia, Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand.

The American footy body will then hold a two-day showcase on the Gold Coast in October, where players selected from each region will be given the chance to test their skills in front of NFL officials.

Based on the current NFL Combine, which takes place in Indianapolis in the US every year, athletes from all codes are invited to take part in a series of tests - speed, agility, strength and skill-based - which will evaluate potential NFL talent.

If you're between 21 and 25, in decent physical condition and keen to play in the NFL, you can take part in the two regional testing dates in Australia: Brisbane on September 5 or Sydney on September 7.

The NFL will also be holding regional combines in Samoa, Fiji, Auckland and Wellington.

Up to 75 athletes will then be selected to go on to the final showcase on October 5 and 6, which will be filmed and shown on prime-time TV in America.

"Up to five athletes from across Australia and the Pacific will be selected from the gold Coast International Combine and entered into the NFL International Pathway Program, which could see them enter the NFL draft or be placed directly onto an NFL team," Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said.
