NRL Confirms Axing Of Auckland Nines And All Stars Games

NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo has confirmed reports that the Auckland Nines tournament will be dropped in 2018.

Given the Rugby League World Cup runs until early December, the NRL has said that it wasn't in the best interest of the players to ask them to back up so early again in the following season after such late 201 commitments.

The All Stars game is also cancelled for 2018, with it expected to return in 2019.

As for the Nines, the NRL are looking to reinvigorate the concept and are taking applications for host cities for the following season.
