For the first time since the infamous Super League days, Rugby League has defeated the AFL in the crowd war.

A combined total of 79,910 attended the two NRL Finals whilst 70,394 were counted at both AFL Finals.

The Eels and Cowboys attracted over 41,000 people at ANZ Stadium whilst next door at Spotless Stadium the GWS Giants managed to get the AFL lowest finals crowd in a century with only 14,865 turning out to see the Giants win.

In fact, the Matildas who played an exhibition soccer match against Brazil at Peppers Stadium in Penrith attracted a sellout crowd of just under 17,000 spectators, 3,000 more than the Giants.

A little win for the NRL considering how poor the crowds were during the opening weekend of the NRL finals.
