NRL Referees Urged To Send More Players To The Sin Bin

Referees have been urged to making more use of the sin bin following a meeting of the new-look NRL Competition Committee. 

The new committee, was told that referees sent 43 players to the sin bin in 2017 – more than double the figure of 17 in 2016.

They agreed referees need to continue to use the sin bin for breaches such as; repeated goal line infringements aimed at slowing down the play and deliberate and dangerous foul plan incidents.

Another issue that was discussed was for referees to be more vigilant and penalise players not playing the ball properly with their foot. 

The new NRL Competition Committee includes NRL coaches Paul Green and Ivan Cleary, South Sydney captain Greg Inglis, Referees boss Tony Archer, ARLC Chairman John Grant; NRL CEO Todd Greenberg and former players John Lang, Darren Lockyer, Jason King and Wayne Pearce.
