The talking point in the NRL at the moment surrounds concussion and the code's handling of such injuries, and now it seems like we may lose a player from the game as a consequence of concussion.

According to smh.com.au, Isaac De Gois could be forced into an early retirement after struggling to recover from a head knock during the preseason.

De Gois hasn't played since the trial in Darwin over the summer when he was concussed, and it's reported that De Gois has been struggling with headaches whenever he tries to increase his training load at Parramatta.

As a senior player, De Gois' career has spanned time at the Tigers, Sharks, Knights and currently the Eels.

He's apparently still eager to make a return, but it's likely that the Eels will be very cautious in giving him a run.

Last week, the NRL dished out three big fines to the Titans, Dragons and Knights over breaches of concussion rules.
