Some loved it, some were confused

The world was divided about the Australia's pre-match welcome to country, many just confused as to what was supposed to be as opposed to what transpired.

However, Jamie Soward told Triple M's The Weekenders, he liked the idea but would of loved to have seen an indigenous dance incorporated in some way.  

"Loved the idea of the welcome to country from probably the most iconic rugby league player at the moment in Johnathan Thurston in Australia," Sowie said. 

"I just thought there was a big chance when they went into the huddle and Cameron Smith popped up I got goosebumps when I was watching it.

"I couldn't hear what he was saying at the time but the excitement that was going to build and I actually thought they were going to get the Indigenous boys to do a 'shake a leg' kind of thing. 

"I thought there was a chance for them to go out and do that but I don't know what was behind it because you want everyone to feel comfortable. 

However, Sowie does think this is a sign of progress. 

"It's the perfect sign of progress that everyone is coming together under one flag moving forward."
